The seosonal Raga Bahar is a part of this course. This Raga welcomes the arrival of spring with colourful phrases and combinations of Swaras. The Swar Sadhana concepts are reinforced and practiced regularly. The Bada Khayal in Bhimpalasi is further developed with concept of Layakari, Bol Taan and Taan. The Chhota Khayal is reviewed and developed further. Raga Des is reviewed and the Thumri Ang improvisation is done in this Raga. Raga Alhaiya Bilaval has been introduced earlier. This Raga is developed with a beautiful Chhota Khayal, which demands certain level of vocal skills and deeper sense of the Raga Roop. A Jhap taal composition in the same Raga adds to the repertoire. There is emphasis on Swar and Raga Vistar and developing awareness about different Ragas in the Bilaval family.

Theory – Review and further study of different types of semiclassical compositions Thumri, Tappa, Dadra, Kajri, Jhoola, Chaiti , Gambhir and Chanchal Prakruti Ragas

Objectives

  • To learn a Jhaptaal composition in Raga Alhaiya Bilaval
  • To learn a Chhota Khayal in Teentaal in Alhaiya Bilaval
  • To understand the Raga characteristics of Alhaiya Bilaval and apply in Aalap and Taan improvisation.
  • To learn a Chhota Khayal in Raga Bahar, developing awareness of the Raga Roop.
  • To sing Swar Vistar and Paltas in Bhimpalasi
  • To sing Bada Khayal in Raga Bhimpalasi with Aalap Badhat
  • To sing Bol Taan, Sagam and Taan within the Bhimpalasi Bada Khayal
  • To review Chhota Khayal in Bhimpalasi and sing Aalp and Taan
  • To learn a Thumri Ang improvisation in Des
  • To listen to different compositions Jhoola, Kajri, Chaiti 

 

The student has completed HV303 at the academy OR The student has learnt Chhota Khayal in about eighteen Ragas and is able to present at least 12 Ragas with Swar Vistar Aalap and Taan. The student is able to sing Bada Khayals with Aalap in Yaman, Bairav, Bhupali, Malkauns and Bihag. The student is able to compose simple Sargam Geet/Tarana in the Ragas learnt.
