Those who have completed the CV401 from the Academy. Those who have trained in Carnatic music for at least 8 years and a strong foundation of Varnams, Kritis and singing kalpana swaras and alapanas as well as been introduced to Ragam, thanam and Pallavi singing.
For a Masters course, content mastery will be approached with a big picture idea. Independent learning by the student with guided listening will be the prominent pedagogy. The 3 compositions chosen in this course CV402 are ones in which student learns a kriti in raga Shankarabharanam and shanmukhapriya each and ragam,niraval, kalpana swara to both the ragas.Student is also trained to learn a composition in Nagaswaravali from an audio and write notation to the same.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of CV402 the student should be able to perform at high level proficiency :
Sing the ragas Shanmukhapriya and Shankarabaranam in detail along with thanam, niraval and kalpana swaras in two speeds.
Be able to decode the swaras of Garudagamana ( Nagaswarali) and also notate the same.
Sing a raga alapana for Nagaswarali ( Audava ragam) and also short niraval and swara prasthara.
