<li>To develop awareness about the Raga/ Ragas which the song is based on</li>
<li>To learn to sing the Abhang with Taal including the concepts of basic improvisational elements</li>
<li>To develop awareness about Sant Namdev and the Varkari tradition</li>
</ul>

The student is able to
- present the Abhang Tirtha Vitthala in Sur and Taal with an insight into           improvisation and application of different Ragas.

Tirtha Vitthala is a beautiful Marathi Abhang of the revered Sant Kavi/ saint-poet Namdev of the Varkari tradition from Maharashtra. This Abhang sung by Pt. Bhimsen Joshi carries a deep sense of devotion and surrender to Lord Vitthala and has a meditative effect. The music composed by Sri Ram Phatak. This Abhang is performed by various artists live in concerts including   Shri Shankar Mahadevan.
