
Thumri forms the main compositional form that is identifed with the genre of 'Upa Shastriya Sangit' or allied form of Hindustani classical music. Under the umrella of Thhumri compositional forms like Dadra, Kajri, Chaiti, Hori are included. Thumri has simple and short poetry that is improvised under the framewrok of Raga and various expressions suggested by the poetry as well as the Ragas. The Ragas chosen have inherent flexibility to push the boundry in order to bring out the expression.

To develop the Bandish within the Taal structure and the framework of the Raga

The student is able to present the chosen compositions with improvisational elements.
