Meera Bai  is the revered and loved saint of the Bhakti era. Her songs have been immortalised by great masters like Pt. D.V. Palukar and Pt. Omkarnath Thakur. Singers like M.S. Subbalakshmi, Kishori Amoankar and Parveen Sultana have sung these Bhajans in their inimitable styles. Meera Bhajans sung by Lata Mangeshkar are all time favourites. 'Ud Jaa Re' is an immortal song which expresses Meera's intense devotion. This song has been set to music by Hridaynath Mangeshkar.

The song is based on the Raga Bhinna Shadja. The composition has the choicest phrases of this Raga contributing to the expression of this Bhajan.
