The Raga introduced here is the mellifluous Jaijaivanti. The Ragaang system can be applied to study the Raga Roop with clarity. The student attempts to bring out the different shades of this Raga effectively. Swar Sadhana is done with Aakar, Uukar and Mmkar. Specific practice exercises for different Gamaks are included. Raga Malkauns Bada Khayal is learnt with an in depth approach to Aalap and Taan. The Chhota Khayal is sung and improvised. Raga Bhairavi Chhota Khayal is sung. The compositions include a Shloka to be set to Bhairavi and a verse to be set in Jaijaivanti. Theory – Overview of the Ragaang system and its relevance. Introduction to Raga Ragini system.

Objectives

  • To do Swar Sadhana with Aakar, Uukar, Mmkar. To practice different Gamak - Khatka, Murki and Taan
  • To learn the Raga Chalan of Raga Jaijaivanti
  • To learn a Chhota Khayal in Raga Jaijaivanti with Aalap and Taan
  • To learn a Bada Khayal in Malkauns with development
  • To sing Chhota Khayal in Malkauns with improvisation
  • To sing Bhairavi Chhota Khayal with Aalap and Taan
  • To listen to the Carnatic equivalent of Malkauns and Bhairavi
  • To do Raga Pehchan exercises

 

 

The student has completed HV301 at the academy OR The student has learnt Chhota Khayal in about fifteen Ragas and is able to present at least 10 Ragas with Swar Vistar Aalap and Taan. The student is able to sing Bada Khayals with Aalap in Yaman, Bairav, Bhupali and Bihag. The student is able to compose simple Sargam Geet/Tarana in the Ragas learnt.
