This course, HV104 reinforces concepts of Swar Pehchan or Swara identification by practice of certain exercises. The Swar Sadhana process is unbroken and is enhanced by encouraging the student to create and sing various Swara patterns. The Raga that has been a composer’s favourite, Raga Khamaj is introduced. The concepts of Shuddh, Komal and Tivra Swara positions is discussed along with Raga characteristics. In Raga Khamaj, a Tarana is introduced along with the Chhota Khayal. The student composes a Sargam Geet in this Raga. The compositional form of Dhrupad is taken up along with the study of basic Laykari, starting with the singing of the composition in Dugun.

Objectives

  • To strengthen the understanding of Swara Sthanas by Swara identification exercises
  • To sing Raga Khamaj with detailed Aalap and Taan
  • To familiarise oneself to sing Dhrupad in Dugun and Chougun through practice of Layakari
  • To compose a Sargam Geet in any of the Ragas learnt

 

 

 

Student needs to complete HV103 at the academy  OR  the student should demonstrate the ability to sing stable notes perfectly in tune with the Tanpura, to sing Chhota Khayal with self-created Aalap and Taan in Ragas Bhupali and Durga in Taal Teentaal and Jhaptaal, to create a Sargam Geet and present it,  to listen to a musical sound and identify Swaras- at least one Swara sung at a time
