Music Production using Ableton Live 9

Duration: 12 weeks, one 45 mins lesson per week

Objectives

After completion of this course, student will be able to: 

  • Understand the workflow on Ableton Live and its basic functionality. 
  • Develop music production skills using Ableton Live 9. 
  • Acquainting the Student to different concepts of Audio and MIDI and differentiate between audio tracks and MIDI tracks. 
  • Know the basic signal flow in Ableton Live and how to route various channels. 
  • Learn to focus on beat making and basics of music production using the inbuilt presets in Ableton. 
  • Warping and Sampling techniques. 
  • Learn the concept of Arrangement and how to build a track using loops. 
  • To learn the basics of Beat Making. 
  • To be introduced to the various features of Ableton including some tips and tricks to make it easier for someone who is not musically inclined.

Learning Outcomes:

Make their own music without having the knowledge of playing any musical instrument.

Will be able to express their musical ideas.

The complexity of Ableton Live 9 will be reduced and will no longer be a barrier to anyone who wants to produce music. 

Career opportunities in sound designing and professional music production.

Students should have the inclination to produce their own music. Laptop with Ableton Live 9 (Students can either buy the original software from the Ableton Website or can download the free trial from https://www.ableton.com/en/trial/ before the course begins which is valid for 30-days.) or higher.
