This is the last course in the advanced programme. The student is now well groomed to become a performing musician and is ready for short concerts. In this course the student learns two more important Krtis, Two more Raga Alapanas in major Ragas and Niraval in three more Ragas. The art of planning a concert is explained. Theory is about the concert stalwarts of the yesteryears and Raga Lakshana.

Objectives

  • Different Compositions – Learning various types of compositions will add value to a student’s musical journey.
  • Manodharma Sangeetam which is the most unique feature of Indian music gains importance in the advanced courses.
  • Advanced Raga Alapana in major Ragas and  Niraval singing is the goal of every student of music and to perfect the art of Manodharma Sangeetham which is the core of all concert performances in the present day.
  •  The theory in this course enlightens the student about yester year masters and gives an insight into how music prevailed in early times.  
  • By now the student is on the threshold of concert performances and requires guidance in terms of planning a concert.Planning a concert is a very important factor in concert singing and it needs careful understanding of minute details that a performer must look into in terms of choice of Ragas, talas composers etc. The success of a concert depends largely in concert planning.
  • Raga Lakshanas give a deep insight into Ragas so that the student has a better idea of the Raga and its details which helps in both compositions as well as Manodharma Sangeetam.

Completion of Carnatic Vocal 301-305 or training in Carnatic music for a period of 4 years to 5 years.
