The Svara passages in the Varnams enable the student to understand the structure of each raga and the possible combinations of Svara patterns that can be sung.
Keerthanas are forerunners of the form Krti and they help in understanding the structure of a musical composition and form the basis for learning the most celebrated form in concerts – the Krti.
