Learning Varnams will help in laying a very strong foundation for all advanced learning particularly in the creative aspects of music.Varnams are very significant forms and the last in the realm of Abhyasa Ganam. The Svara passages in the Varnams enable the student to understand the structure of each raga and the possible combinations of Svara patterns that can be sung.
Keerthanas are forerunners of the form Krti and they help in understanding the structure of a musical composition and form the basis for learning the most celebrated form in concerts – the Krti.
